Hi Y’all!

 

My name is Kelly Forrester and I am the current President of the University of South Carolina Dance Marathon for the 2023-2024 year! It still doesn’t feel real that I get the opportunity to lead this organization and everyday I’m reminded how wonderful it is to be a part of something as special as USCDM.

 

I have always been a “joiner”, so when I heard about USCDM my freshman year it was a no-brainer for me. That year I was able to join our IGNITE program which set the foundation for my next three years on staff. For the past two years I worked as Internal Productions Director giving me knowledge on all things event planning. As director, I was able to met and be inspired by so many people that still remain some of my closest friends. Over the course of the last four years, my reason for continuing to participate in USCDM has changed and evolved, but my passion for changing kids health only gets stronger.

 

USCDM has taught me some of my biggest lessons in my college career. I have learned compassion through seeing the way the members of this organization interact with miracle families and each other. I have learned patience when someone needs help. I have learned perseverance in the face of challenges. Most importantly I have learned how to love with my whole heart. The students, advisors, heroes, donors, miracle families, and Child Life Specialists embody the phrase “it’s cool to care”. They are the true heroes.

 

This organization has made a huge impact on the person I have become and influenced the person I want to be. I will forever be grateful for everyone that supports USCDM and continues to share the message that Kid’s Can’t Wait. I truly can’t wait for this year of miracle making.
